On November 17, 2009 at 9:45 am, Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1 responded to Davis Rd. at the bridge near Paris Branch Rd.  Upon arrival, fire units found the occupant standing on the roof of the vehicle and quickly helped him to safety.  The driver attempted to cross the flooded road and quickly found water entering his vehicle.

Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.  Even though you may be able to see the general path of the road, it is very difficult to judge how deep the water is and how fast it is flowing.  It takes very little water for your vehicle to lose traction and begin floating.  Your vehicle could be submerged or swept off the roadway.  Be careful and be safe!

Many District residents recently received red and white "notices" taped to the front of their homes.  In the notice, an unknown person/company offers to paint your street address on the curb in front of your house for a fee of $10.  There is no phone number or contact, but residents can simply leave $10 at their door to have the work done.  The look of the notice and the manner in which is was posted may lead some to believe this is a requirement.

The Fire District does NOT require these addresses.  In fact, when we are responding to an emergency, we look for the street address which is required to be permanently affixed to your home.
