On Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 4:13 A.M. Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1 responded to Camp Tuckaho at 163 Highway KK for a structure fire. On arrival, firefighters found the camp’s main pool house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters worked for over two hours to extinguish the 3,000 square foot facility which housed locker rooms and showers for the camp, owned by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, Inc. Firefighting water was supplied by the camp’s swimming pool.

The majority of the camp residents, including Girl Scouts and staff were asleep in separate buildings at the time of the fire. Campers were not in any danger as the occupied buildings were several hundred feet from the fire. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and believed to be electrical.
